2024-2025 Season
The Auburn IHSA Equestrian Team is a University Organization. It is open to all students with a desire to learn about horses and get practical, hands on experience. Our competitive show teams are open to men and women riders of all skill levels in the hunt seat discipline.

Executive Board
As an official University club we will have an elected Executive Board to run the team which is made up of the Officers and Committee Chairs:

President, Vice President, Secretary and Treasurer.

Committee Chairs: Team Travel, Media, Horse Show, Community Service, Fundraising, Marketing and Social.
Practice
You will be responsible for catching, grooming, tacking and putting your horse away.
You need to plan to arrive early and stay after to care for your horse.
Practice times will normally be held in the mornings (7:00 – 11:00am M-F) during the week.
Practices will be 45 minutes to an hour long.
Membership Types & Fees
Members are chosen through a tryout process (tiers will be based on rider preference and coaches discretion). Pricing is per semester.

Tier 1: Rides once per week for 12 weeks (12 practices), these members are not eligible to compete - $720
​
Tier 2: Rides twice per week for 12 weeks (24 practices), may be eligible to compete - $1,440
​
Tier 3: Rides three times per week for 12 weeks (36 practices), may be eligible to compete - $2,160
​
General members: These members do not ride but are eligible to participate in club activities!

Workouts
​
Tier 2 and 3 members are required to workout twice per week in team arranged workouts. Tier 1 members can opt into team workouts
Team Dues
​
$75 per year which will include two team shirts in addition to membership fees.
Show Fees
Show fees will vary and may include, but are not limited to the following:

Entry fees (price varied and is set by our region annually)

All meals while t5raveling (breakfast usually included at the hotel, boxed lunches, and dinner)

Gas/transportation

Coaches expenses (food, lodging, travel, etc.)
Show Clothes
All clothes are the responsibility of the riders. Auburn does have some show clothing for riders to use. Many team members are willing to share clothes as well. The following will be the rider’s responsibility:

​Try Outs
Try outs will be held at the beginning of each school year. We need riders of all skill levels and experience. There will be a $25 tryout fee or a $15 tryout fee for Beginner/Introductory Riders (walk/ trot) with less than 24 weeks experience.

Limitations
The IHSA team is open to all full time students *** seniors in last semester can be part time
Must be in good academic standing
Both men and women are permitted to ride and compete.
Due to horse welfare we will enforce a maximum 200 lb weight limit for all riders.
